In Islamabad, reports have emerged of police stopping civilians at checkpoints and conducting random phone searches. Concerns have been made about privacy invasions and abuse of power due to the incidents, which mostly happened in areas like Margalla Avenue, F-10, and F-11.

Citizens claim that police are examining their private chats, searching for specific terms such as “PTI,” and even inspecting personal documents without a valid warrant.

This conduct is against the law, which mandates that authorities get warrants before conducting such investigations. Families and individuals have reported feeling harassed, with no clear explanation for these inappropriate acts. 

Despite several complaints to the Islamabad Capital Territory Police and the Deputy Commissioner’s office, there has yet to be an official declaration or acknowledgment of these activities. The lack of transparency has worsened public concern, as citizens question the legal system controlling their privacy rights. 

This incident underlines the vital need for authorities to address these actions, ensure accurate obedience to legal standards, and protect citizens’ fundamental rights. Residents are advised to be cautious and mindful of their rights when stopped at checkpoints until the issue is handled. The problem highlights general worries about uncontrolled authority and responsibility in law enforcement operations.
